Fraud Alerts

In our continuing efforts to keep your accounts secure, we have an alert system in place for potential fraud.

Here’s how it works:
1.When potential fraud is detected, you will receive an automatic email notification from Hopewell Federal Credit Union, with the option to reply with “fraud” or “no fraud.”

2.One minute after the email, you will receive a text alert from 32874,which also has the “YES” or “NO” option.  (*SEE BELOW)

3.If there is no response received from you, five minutes after the text alert, you will receive automatic phone calls to confirm or deny fraud.

Remember – our messages will NEVER ask for your PIN or account number.
*The phone number for our Fraud Center has changed to 1-800-417-4592.  If you add this number to your phone contacts and label it “Fraud Center,” it will display whenever you get a call from this number.

New Fraud Prevention Enhancements:
–Fraud Center will begin texting cardholders 24 hours a day rather than 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. This will allow for faster cardholder responses so you can get back to using your card right away.
-Opt Out Support – Cardholders have a new option to opt out of future contact at the specific phone number dialed via text or phone.
–On March 1st, you will begin to receive authorization restriction declines.  This means, if you are declined, you will receive an email and text message 24/7 letting you know you have attempted a restricted transaction. You will have the option to confirm fraud. If it is valid, you will be asked to contact Hopewell Federal for further assistance. This new rule helps you understand why a transaction failed. Transactions declined in real-time are highly suspect and should be reviewed by the cardholder.
